![]() Now Corrosive Gas attacks enemies and walls, but doesn't touch your floor loot. The Corrosive Gas mutation used to destroy items on the floor (denying you any spoils from a fight), until the developers realized players hated this and therefore almost no one picked the mutation.Luckily, every character build can not only be saved and reused, but also comes with a code that you can share with other players who want to try your build! Character creation is intricate, and it would be a pain to remember what combination of attributes, class, and mutations you selected for a favorite build.but the devs have implemented a new command to (w)ake them so you don't have to wait. ![]() ![]() In earlier versions of the game, the merchants at Grit Gate and the Six Day Stilt would regularly go to sleep, preventing you from trading with them until they wake up (many hundreds of turns later). An Ice Person: Mutations like the Cryokinesis or Freezing Hands allow characters to attack with ice.Ammo-Using Melee Weapon: Gaslight weapons, vibroblades, nanopneumatic jackhammers, and all weapons with freezing/flaming/electric mods require an energy cell to function as anything more than a dull club.Ammunition Backpack: When equipped, flamethrowers occupy not only your ranged weapon slots, but also your back slot.Since individual reputations are randomly generated, you can sometimes get into a situation where the Head Watervine Farmer in Joppa is immediately mobbed and slain by the other farmers, for anything from eating their young to winning at dice too much.Performing the Water Ritual with them will improve your relation with friendly factions and reduce it with enemies. Named Non Player Characters have their own individual reputations, visible when using the Look command. For instance, Hermits and Albino Apes start neutral to the player but will fight to the death if nearby. Particular factions like or dislike each other. Alliance Meter: The player has reputation values with every faction in the game, which will determine whether they attack you on sight or not.Advanced Ancient Acropolis: If you're a True Kin, you get to pick one of these as your point of origin. After the End: A thousand years after the end, to be precise.Achievement Mockery: In the Steam version of the game, there are many achievements that you can only earn by killing yourself with weird and unique methods, like getting annihilated from the explosion of Neutron Flux.I can only hope it gets better as I play more and development continues. The game is still in active development, has been released available on Steam Early Access in 2015, which can be played here. Granted, I've just barely gotten started on the game, but it seems like loads of fun. I'm guessing this is something that they picked up from Gene Wolfe short stories (ex: "Tracking Song" IIRC) and Book of the New Sun, but it's a fairly simple enough that it likely could be from any number of other sources BAsically the idea appears to be is that old robots recognize true humans as their masters, but will not listen to mutated humans, so it's kind of like they are the undead of the post apoc world and humans can 'exorcise' them. + Robot rebuking is a fun game concept that I have not seen in action yet. + Races: True Humans (Get resistances, bonus to skill gain, ability to rebuke robots), Mutants (Get all kinds of crazy mutations, physical and mental) + seems to be extensive crafting, but I have not made use of it yet + Random stuff in the world map (i've bumped into 'lairs' and 'ruins' so far) + Lots of skills and abilities, and not just 'use power x to do Y damage, cools off in z rounds' + Massive array of items from firearms to weird artifacts to melee weapons (including energy powered melee weapons!) + Monsters are rather unique, seem to exhibit different behaviors interactions can all be handled with spacebar and one or two addition key touches from a menu) + Nice interface (I think it is very easy to use, inventory handling takes two key touches, lots of collapsable/explodable categories, etc. +THe game is a huge open world, and the world map is similar to Dwarf Fortress in that it is just a representation of a grid of local maps rather than a separate movement mode (if that makes any sense). Setting is good, writing and world design (even compared to games that aren't roguelikes!!!!) are good. I've been playing this game for a bit and have just barely scratched it- I keep using the same build until I can survive past level 3.
